Tis’ the season girlies
Do you hear that..?
The faint sound of bells ringing, the crunch of a mince pie and the strain of a belt buckle, the quiet whispers of family members asking ‘have you found someone yet? No? Are you a lesbian then?’ and the slow decent into madness on day 3 of family gatherings.
That means one thing and one thing only girlies, Christmas is here.
But before I go into the festive chit chat I did need to confess something…I had a date. And I know I said no dating until the new year but this was beyond my control, he invited me for a roast dinner and I believe it is against my English heritage to say no. It would be like turning down a scone or refusing a cuppa. My body wouldn’t let me do it. So can I be let off? Please?
The date was surprisingly good, it’s strange how I’m more shocked if it’s a good date rather than if it’s bad. I guess that’s just the world of dating nowadays but yeah, it was a decent date and more importantly the roast dinner was INSANE. Solid 8.9/10 - minus points because no red cabbage and the beef wasn’t red. Next year I really must commit to that roast tour I have been talking about, the search for the perfect roast dinner is something I have to do. For the greater good.
On the topic of dates, I had a really cute girls date this month too, we went cupcake decorating. It was a small class where you were taught how to decorate 6 different Christmas themed cupcakes and then got to take them home afterwards. I was back in bed by 8:30pm with a box of cakes and a hot choc…can you think of a better night out than that?
There is something magical and healing about spending an arty evening with the girls, you just feel so wholesome and happy afterwards. You can have a good catch up, tell them all about what’s been going on, all the new work tea you’ve recently found out and just have a laugh without worrying about adult life. I definitely want to make sure I do more evenings like that in the new year as well.
(Note to self: in the New year I must do a roast dinner tour AND more girls arty nights. I must stop promising I want go on dates as curiosity will always get the better of me. Maybe just less bad ones and a bit more self respect whilst I'm at it. Also stop trying to lose weight whilst also making food goals…just embrace the rolls and eat the damn food when you want to.)
Something I love to do every year is create my own gift bags for people, it’s such an easy way to add a bit of a personal touch to your presents, especially if you don’t want to break the bank on wrapping. I bulk buy a set of plain white paper bags from the shop, Amazon have loads, get a coloured pen and draw some christmassy designs. Whether you want them to all be the same or make them special for the person receiving the gift is entirely up to you, but I have popped a few designs below for some inspo if you need.
Anyway, no more rambling from me, I hope you all have an amazing Christmas whatever you are doing and a Happy New Year! Make sure to eat all the Christmas food you can handle, play lots of games and just enjoy yourself, even if 10 different relatives question what you are doing with your life.
Art is a proper degree, don’t worry what anyone thinks and keep on drawing.
Speak to you all in 2026!
